The series goes beyond conversations around disability, as Lacey talks with influencers, entrepreneurs, athletes, activists, creatives, and others about powering through life’s challenges and finding humor throughout it all.

Lacey knows about overcoming adversity—after being diagnosed with synovial sarcoma at nine years old (a disease that was so rare at the time of her diagnosis there was no survival rate), she had her right leg amputated above the knee. Despite needing years of physical therapy and suffering through childhood ridicule, Lacey landed a cheerleading scholarship to the University of Denver before becoming a long jumper for Team USA.

Lacey is a six-time USA National Champion in the long jump, the world record holder in the pole vault, and the American record holder in the long jump. She participated in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and earned a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru. She is currently training for the 2021 Paralympic Games to be held in Tokyo.

Lacey Henderson is a Paralympian and the host of Picked Last in Gym Class, a podcast and video series about how folks overcome adversity and achieve their goals.
